Hope & Help for Mental Health

We are excited to announce Miss Washtenaw 2018, Hannah Palmer as our guest speaker highlighting Mental Health Care and Suicide Prevention. While in high school, Hannah fought her own battle with depression and anxiety and has not let this define her or stand in the way of reaching for her goals. Hannah hopes sharing her story along with her experience with Mental Health First Aid will help to change the stereotyping of mental illness, encourage struggling youth and help those living and working with youth better help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Hannah is a lifelong Brighton resident and is attending Eastern Michigan University majoring in Elementary Education.

Check out THE LANDING for ages 13-18: Students today, more than ever, face addiction, divorce, peer pressure, depression, cutting, eating disorders, abortion, and abuse. THE LANDING helps students learn how to break cycles of dysfunction and provide tools for them to live free and healthy lives.

Students today struggle and are challenged with much more than previous generations ever had to deal with. Issues may include addiction, divorce, peer pressure, depression, cutting, eating disorders, abortion, and abuse. Teens can find the support they need with a group in The Landing student ministry.

Our two-hour sessions include ice-breaker games, worship songs and a lesson on topics like denial, introspection, helplessness, hope, and giving God control. The meetings usually end with small group discussions divided by gender.

The Landing meets at Peoples Church on Tuesdays.

Welcome Home is a Celebrate Recovery group for Veterans and their families. We meet at Peoples Church's Celebrate Recovery on Tuesdays at 7 pm.

Celebrate Recovery Welcome Home Groups are a safe place for veterans and their family to connect. Most military families miss the camaraderie that the military culture provides. This can be achieved through Celebrate Recovery and Welcome Home Open Share Groups.
