Here is a helpful article that we believe captures this good balance of taking necessary precautions but prayerfully seeking and trusting God’s love and protection.

SCATTERED CHURCH STILL ACTIVE

While the gathered church is suspended for a time, the church is not the building or simply the services in the building. The church is the people. And there are many ways the scattered church outside the four walls can make an impact in our community. We can still live out our calling to love God and love others during this time. Look for creative ways and opportunities to help and service others. While the current circumstances make it difficult to gather together in our usual ways, technology gives us the opportunity to be innovative and come up with new ways to "gather" for prayer, teaching and community together. Suggestions:

  • Audio Only? Read scripture together, share a few thoughts, and pray. Or just check in, share prayer request (or prayer topic) and pray. Keep it simple. Rotate who leads so it doesn't fall on one person. Keep it light weight.
  • Video: There are so many possibilities with video groups: pray, worship, play games (think charades or scavenger hunt), Bible study, or just visit and encourage one another.
  • Share your innovation! Go to our Facebook page and post your ideas for "being church" outside of the church walls. We can't wait to be inspired!
